Silva up for Golden Boy award

Wolves forward Fabio Silva features on the final shortlist for the 2020 Golden Boy award.

The old gold summer recruit has been named on the list of the final 20 contenders, which has been whittled down from an original 100 named in June.

Silva attracted plaudits for breaking onto the scene at FC Porto last season at the age of just 17, becoming the club’s youngest ever player and goalscorer having broken now-Wolves teammate Ruben Neves’ club records.

Wolves since signed the youngster for a club record fee and he has appeared three times in old gold since.

Fellow Portuguese talent Joao Felix is the current holder of the award, created by Italian newspaper Tuttosport.

Silva joins the likes of Borussia Dortmund duo Jadon Sancho and Erling Braut Haaland, Alphonso Davies of Bayern Munich and Real Madrid duo Vinicius Jnr and Rodrygo.

Elsewhere in the Premier League, Phil Foden and Ferran Torres (Manchester City), Callum Hudson-Odoi (Chelsea), Mason Greenwood (Manchester United) and Bukayo Saka (Arsenal) also feature in the top 20.
