Amber Hughes wants Wolves Women to have a winning mentality as they head into the 2024/25 National League season on Sunday.
The Old Gold completed their preparations for the upcoming campaign with a 3-2 pre-season victory over Ipswich Town at the Sir Jack Hayward Training Ground, in a game which saw Hughes add another goal to her tally. The striker has spoken on closing the pre-season campaign with a win, her partnership with recent signing Charlotte Greengrass and the aims heading into the new season.
On finishing pre-season with a win
“It is a great way to finish pre-season. This was our toughest test so to finish with a win is massive for us.
“There is a really good feel around the camp, we’ve had some great additions coming in and we’ve welcomed them in, and I think it has shown in the games.
“We are working hard and doing well but looking forward to next week.”
On her partnership with Charlotte Greengrass
“It’s brilliant, it is like she has been here forever already, and she is settling into the group.
“She is a goal scorer, I am really looking forward to our partnership throughout the season.”
On the Stourbridge opener and ambitions for the season
“First league game at home, we are all really excited for it but we know the job we have got and we want to come away with three points.
“Everyone wants to win as many games as possible and that is our focus.
“We will look at each game as it comes to get the maximum points that we can, and we will set up in different ways against different teams. We want to be as successful as we can.”
