Challenge Cup final venue and date confirmed

Wolves Women will take on Rugby Borough in the final of the Birmingham Challenge Cup at Burton Albion’s Pirelli Stadium.

The venue has now been confirmed for the Old Gold’s third successive final, which will take place on Tuesday 14th May at 7.45pm.

Dan McNamara’s side are the current reigning champions and have won the competition for the past two seasons, beating West Bromwich Albion at Walsall in 2022 before success over Stourbridge in the final last year at Molineux.

This time around, Wolves have progressed past Sutton Coldfield Town, Boldmere St Michaels and West Brom on penalties to book their spot at the Pirelli.

A late Jade Cross equaliser was required in the semi-final, before Wolves once again claimed the bragging rights over their rivals with a shootout victory.

Meanwhile, Rugby Borough, who sit third in the Southern Premier Division, have had to overcome Lye Town, Stourbridge and Aston Villa on route to the final.

Previously Coventry United, Borough have won the competition twice before under their Coventry name in 2017/18 and 2018/19.

Tickets for the final next month will be priced at £10 for adults and £5 for concessions, and will go on sale via Burton’s online ticketing platform in due course.
