Women's preview | Fylde vs Wolves

It’s take two for Wolves Women as they travel to Fylde in a rearranged fixture on Sunday afternoon.

Originally scheduled for February, the game was postponed late on following confirmation that the Coasters had a significant number of unforeseen injuries within their squad.

As a result, Dan McNamara’s side make the long trip up north this weekend but do so after a recent strong run of form having won four on the spin.

The Old Gold brushed aside West Bromwich Albion, Huddersfield Town and Stourbridge before putting another five past Halifax last Sunday.

In total, Wolves have netted 17 goals in their last four games with striker Amber Hughes on a hot streak herself with seven in her last five.

In all competitions, McNamara’s group have been flying high with six wins in seven, and those results have helped consolidate fourth place.

Fylde, meanwhile, are rooted to the foot of the Northern Premier Division table having not won a league game all season, picking up three draws and three points from their 18 fixtures.

Jointly managed by Jake Williams and Steve Mainwaring, the Coasters saw their game at Stoke City postponed last weekend and were last in action at Burnley at the start of the month, losing 9-0 on the road.

In the reverse fixture back in September, Wolves won by five goals to nil with Destiney Toussaint stealing the headlines with a hat-trick. There was also success the last time Wolves travelled to Kellamergh Park, as Beth Merrick (2), Toussaint and Tammi George scored the goals in a 4-1 victory.
