Wolves Women put their name in the hat for the next round of the Women’s FA Cup with an impressive 5-1 win against Sutton Coldfield Town Ladies.
Jade Cross opened the scoring in the 11th minute with the easiest of finishes from close range after a dominate early spell for Wolves. 15 minutes later she had her second following a fantastic flick around the goalkeeper.
Wolves looked to be in control just past the half hour point, however, with their first effort on goal Sutton Coldfield halved the deficit with a wonder strike from Imogen Fisher.
Wanderers went on to dominate the second-half but surprisingly didn’t add to their lead until Pip Wilson smashed in from close range 15 minutes before the final whistle.
Keitley was able to continue the final surge of pressure and poked in from the six-yard box just before Billie Haynes curled in the final goal from the edge of the box.
The draw for the next round will take place on Monday 28th October.
Moment of the match
The fifth and final goal was well worth waiting for. A fantastic strike from Haynes rounded off an impressive second-half performance.
Manager quotes
Dan McNamara was pleased to be in the hat for the next round, despite “not playing our best football” at times.
He said: "It’s always a good thing when you win when you haven’t played that well. It’s a sign that we are doing something right. Fair play to Sutton, they made it difficult for us at times.
"We’re into the hat, that’s the main thing. We were under par today and I think we never really got going and not the standard we have set ourselves this season."
