Wolves Women To Face Man Utd

Wolves Women are gearing up for the start of the new season with a high-profile friendly against Manchester United Women’s Under 19s at Bilston Town FC on Wednesday 8th August.

After several friendlies behind-closed-doors, Manager Dan McNamara is pleased with how preparations have been going and has been able to take a look at both the First Team and new Development Squad.

He said: “What a fantastic occasion for our football club to welcome Manchester United Women’s Under 19s to our new home ground.

“As a group we’re really excited and looking forward to testing ourselves against some outstanding young talent. With our season fast approaching it’s a great opportunity for new Assistant Manager Hugh and I to reflect on where we are as a group and see what needs work before we kick off away to Steel City Wanderers on 19th August.”

The club would also like to offer a local female grassroots club (Under 16 only) the opportunity to be official mascots for the fixture. Any clubs interested should e-mail: stevecullis@wolvescommunitytrust.org.uk by 5pm on Thursday, 2nd August and a team will be selected by random draw. The winning team will be notified by Friday, 3rd August.

The representing football club will walk alongside Wolves Women as both teams emerge from the tunnel minutes before kick-off, and will need to wear their own matchday kit for the game.

Wolves Women Chair Jenny Wilkes said: “What a great game to start off our relationship with our new home ground of Bilston Town FC. We’re really looking forward to the new season and we’re planning a party atmosphere for this game with Wolfie and Wendy in attendance.

“We hope there will be plenty of fans getting behind Wolves in what I’m sure will be an entertaining fixture.”

The game will be played at Bilston Town FC, Queen Street, Bilston, WV14 7EX with an 8pm kick-off. Admission is £2 with concessions and Wolves season ticket holders £1.
