2022/23 Wolves under-21 fixtures confirmed

The fixtures for Wolves under-21’s 2022/23 first season back in Premier League 2 Division 1 and the Premier League International Cup have been confirmed.

Having earned promotion to the top flight of English youth football via the play-offs last time out, James Collins’ side will get their new campaign underway by hosting Chelsea at their home venue of Kidderminster Harriers’ Aggborough Stadium at 7pm on Monday 8th August.

The first away match of the season sees the under-21s travel to Blackburn Rovers four days later, while Wolves face Brighton & Hove Albion and Crystal Palace to complete a busy August.

One of 14 teams in Division 1 this season, Wolves will renew rivalries with last season’s Division 2 champions Fulham on Monday 5th September, before clashes with Everton, Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool.

With Birmingham City dropping out of PL2 for the coming season, and with Aston Villa and West Bromwich Albion remaining in Division 2, there will be no derby clashes this coming campaign for Collins’ men, who will end 2022 ahead of the World Cup break in November away at West Ham United – a side who Wolves overcame in last season’s Premier League Cup on their way to the final.

PL2 gets back underway on 6th January with Wolves hosting Blackburn at Aggborough, before the season runs until 29th April and a visit to Manchester City.

As well as a return to Division 1, Wolves will also compete in the Premier League International Cup this season – having last taken part in the competition back in the 2019/20 season.

The under-21s will face Porto, Valencia, VfL Wolfsburg and Celtic during the group stages of the competition, and more information on that competition can be found here.
