Wolves to face Porto, Valencia, Wolfsburg and Celtic at Molineux

Wolves under-21s have been drawn against Porto, Valencia, Wolfsburg and Celtic in their return to competitive European football as part of the 2022/23 Premier League International Cup.

Following the success of last season, in which James Collins; side were promoted to the top flight of development football after securing the Premier League 2 Division 2 play-off final title, that victory also sealed a place in the International Cup.

The competition provides players in England’s category one academies with the opportunity to match themselves against fellow elite European youth footballers in a competitive environment.

The 2022/23 International Cup divides 24 teams – 12 from England and 12 invited sides from across Europe – into three groups of eight, with the top two teams in each group and the two best third-placed teams progressing into the knockout stages.

None of the English teams in the group will face each other, meaning Wolves will only play international opponents in Group A, as will fellow group members Fulham, Leicester City and Blackburn Rovers.

All matches are to be played in England, with Wolves scheduled to play their home matches at Molineux, with 7pm kick-offs.
