After 12 days without a match, James Collins’ group will be refreshed and ready to banish the memory of defeat to Shrewsbury Town in the Papa John’s Trophy last time out.
After a strong start to the PL2 season, the under-23s have now gone two without a win, so will be eyeing three points against the Saints, who are winless so far and have taken just two points from their opening seven matches.
Wolves’ last home PL2 fixture brought their first defeat on home soil, as Sunderland prevailed 3-1, but more recently Collins’ players picked up a creditable draw away at Villa, before that reverse to Shrewsbury.
Even in defeat to the League One side, Collins took plenty of positives, and he’ll hope his players will learn from their mistakes and get back on track against the Saints, who drew 1-1 with Stoke City last time out.

WHAT THE BOSS THINKS
Collins: “What Southampton do well is that they produce good players. They’re a club with a history of producing players and have a philosophy in the way they play which is very similar to that of their first-team.
“We expect them to be pressing from the front, showing high energy, and lots of forward passing, and we need to be ready for it.
“But we’ve had a decent start to the season ourselves and are really looking forward to the game. We’ve had a little break since the Shrewsbury game last week, I think the lads needed a little breather at this point, so it’s come at a good time, but we’re now ready for the next challenge.”
