Nuno confident in recovery cycle

Nuno Espirito Santo has no concerns over his players’ fitness after thorough preparations for the Europa League in pre-season.

Wolves put everything into their Monday night draw with Manchester United in the Premier League and three days later take on Torino in the Europa League. In a clash of last season’s seventh-placed clubs in England and Italy, Wolves expect a stern contest, but Nuno insists his players will be fully recovered and prepared for the fresh challenge in Turin on Thursday night.

On the fitness of his players

“Everybody’s fine, Matt Doherty is OK.

“We’ve been preparing since the beginning for the season for this kind of cycle. Two days is difficult, but we are ready to play.

“We have a training session to decide (the team), we decide a strong eleven and we go and compete.”

On facing Torino

“They’re a very good team, very nice, good players, good manager. They play good, it’s going to be tough for us.

“It will be a very tough challenge. All of the team have strengths, they are fantastic players, good defensive organisation, strong midfield, good strikers, we have to look at all the team.

“They are very good team. It’s going to be a very good game on Thursday, for sure.”

On approach to the tie

“It doesn’t change anything. Our approach is exactly the same, game by game.

“Thursday is the game, the next game will be in the Premier League, then the second leg, so we go game by game, it doesn’t change anything at all.

“The table (last season) doesn’t mean much at this moment. What we did last season is not so relevant now, what I know now is it’s going to be tough, because Torino are a very good team.”
