Wolves form no surprise for goal-scorer Jimenez

Raul Jimenez is not surprised about Wolves’ current form after the Mexican’s first half strike set his side on their way to a Premier League record three consecutive victories.

The striker got on the end of a Diogo Jota shot/cross to put Wolves in front against Bournemouth at Molineux, before Ivan Cavaleiro sealed the three points late in second half injury time.

The victory – Wolves’ first over Bournemouth since December 1989 – put the side into seventh place in the Premier League table, but Jimenez knows how hard the team has worked to reach that point.

On putting Wolves ahead

“This season we have scored more goals in the second half, so it was important for us to manage the game after scoring in the first half.

“I saw Diogo was going to shoot/cross and that’s the reason I was waiting there in the perfect moment to be there and to score.”

On Wolves’ Premier League position

“We feel amazing, we know that we have a great team to compete and make good things to be there in that position and maybe we can go up in the table.

“I’m not surprised we have done so well, because we are working for that. Since pre-season we are working on our style and our game, and I know that we can still do it much better.”

On conditions at Molineux

“It’s too cold, but I want to win all the games like this. It doesn’t matter the weather if we can keep working like this.

“I heard about the weather a lot and knew it would be cold here in Wolverhampton, many times it goes into minus zero degrees, but we can cope.

“I hope that we can continue to win all the games and then it doesn’t matter.”

On Friday’s clash with Liverpool

“That’s going to be a great game. We know that it’s going to be a very difficult game because they are one of the best teams in the league, but we can compete with them and we have good players to go to that match.”
