Ola John is delighted to be back in the mix and hoping to play his part in a positive Wolves future.
The 24-year-old wideman made a lively debut as a half time substitute in Tuesday’s EFL Cup tie at Newcastle, his first competitive appearance since May.
And the Benfica loanee is now hoping for exciting times ahead as Wolves head into a new era.
“It is always nice to play games and it was enjoyable to get back out there,” he said.
“It has been a long time and my last game had been back in May.
“I am really happy to get some minutes but sad for the team to lose because that is the most important thing
“I felt relieved to be playing and felt good in the game and I feel ready.
“I am feeling positive about the situation.
“We know we can play good football – in the Championship everyone can beat everyone and it is about getting on a good run.
“We beat Newcastle after they had beaten QPR 6-0.
“Any team needs to get on a good run, and you also need a little bit of luck as well.
“We have to look to ourselves, train hard and do things that the coach wants to do.
“If we do that I think it is going to be a good journey.”
As one of the new arrivals John has been delighted with how quickly he has settled in.
And he believes that goes for all of the new faces to have checked in this summer, with the five-day stay in Newcastle also playing its part in cementing team spirit.
“It has been really easy to settle in,” said John.
“There are young lads in the team, and I feel comfortable here.
“I can speak English so it is easy to communicate with the rest of the players.
“I can help out the lads whose English isn’t quite so good with some translation but they can understand English anyway so it isn’t too much of a problem.
“We saw each other for five days in Newcastle!
“We all ate together three or four times a day and you can get to know each other better.
“Keeping the team together and the spirit is important and can hopefully take us to the next level.
“If everyone is working well together and for each other like it is in our dressing room hopefully that will lead to good things.
“Everyone has got to know each other and it is an exciting time as we look to make a new team.
“There are ups and downs in football and we all have to be mentally strong.
“We have a good technical team and can play good football and it is about getting all the parts together.
“Winning games is always good for confidence and to beat a good team like Newcastle in the league is particularly good.
“We were disappointed not to do it again on Tuesday but have to make sure we are confident for the next game.”
