Away From the Action | Pablo Sarabia

Spaniard Pablo Sarabia discusses life Away From the Action at Molineux and Compton Park, exploring how he keeps relaxed and some of his favourite activities.

What do you like to do away from football?

I like to play other sports, I play padel, for example, and I like to watch TV series or films with my wife, I also like to play card games.

Do you watch football outside of Wolves?

Yes, I try to see a lot of games because I love football. I’ve been lucky to have played with a lot of players during my career, so I try to watch my friends in the other teams too.

Are there any other sports you like to play?

I said that I like to play padel and I try to play that when I’m not playing football, usually in the summer, but I love to play any sport in general.

Is there one sport or activity you wish you could try?

I would love to ski, but I’ve not been allowed to do it because it could cause injury. It’s very dangerous for the knees and the ankle too, so I will have to wait until I stop playing football to do it. But I love going out to the mountains and enjoying the nature too.

Are you quite active during your downtime?

When I’m not playing, I try to rest and spend a lot of time with my family because I love it. I also enjoy going out with my friends, because the most important thing for me is spending time with my family and friends.

Where do you like to visit during time off?

I love to travel and try to visit as many new places in the country where I’m living, so since coming here I’ve enjoyed going to London and I try to go out to different restaurants, to monuments and to palaces and I enjoy all of this.

Which teammates would be the best and worst to spend downtime with?

There is no-one I wouldn’t want to spend time with. I think having a good friendship with everyone is very good for the team and the happiness here. Everyone here has really welcomed me and my family, but I’ve enjoyed spending my time with Ruben Neves, Jonny, Raul [Jimenez] and Sasa [Kalajdzic].

Do you spend time with your teammates away from Compton?

Yes, I do. Since I came here, the big thing I saw was that the club is a family. There are a lot of players here who have young families and I love the family feeling. This is amazing for me and my wife because we were about to have children when we arrived here, so I wanted to be at a family club.

Is there a specific restaurant or café that you like to visit?

There’s nowhere specific that I like to visit. I do enjoy food though, so have been to a lot of different restaurants in all of the places I have played. I try to eat at home because it’s important for my diet as a professional player, but I do enjoy going to sushi restaurants.

How much have you explored Wolverhampton?

I’ve seen quite a lot. I do love it here because it’s quiet and there are lots of parks and nature near where I live, and lots of places to go with my dog for walks where we can enjoy the nature. It’s a different type of city to where I’ve lived before, but I love it.
