Play/Delete/Rewind | Carl Ikeme

Iconic goalkeeper Carl Ikeme made more than 200 appearances for Wolves over 15 years at Molineux, but here he has the chance to go over those games and rewrite his gold and black history.

PLAY | The game you missed

The one that probably cuts me the most is when we played Liverpool in the FA Cup, and just probably more to do with the reason why I got sent off in the match before. I remember a Norwich player [Wes Hoolahan] basically dived really, and then I got up and pushed him, and he went down stupidly, and the referee ended up sending me off. So, I was sent off at Norwich away, and then ended up missing the game at Anfield when we won 2-1 with Harry [Burgoyne] in net. So, that’s the one that sticks out.

DELETE | The game you would remove

Oh, that’s easy - the game against Bristol City. I think for many reasons, the backpass that I should’ve controlled, but probably the whole incident in the changing room after and when I broke my hand and was out for a couple of months. That’s one that I’d probably go back and want to erase.

REPLAY | The game with a different outcome

This one is difficult. I remember when we first got promoted back to the Championship, I remember us going on a really good run, but there was a game we lost to Birmingham City away. It just killed our momentum a little bit. There’s been bigger games that I’ve played in where the result didn’t go our way, but that one just sticks out a little bit because we had a real chance of going up if we’d got into the Play-Offs that year. The fact it was Blues didn’t help as well.

REWIND | The game with the same outcome

I think Stoke in the FA Cup always stands out because it’s notable how busy I was that day. The outcome was good as well, and I had a bit of a stormer which is always nice. That would be the one that probably sticks out.

FAST-FORWARD | The game since you left the club

I think maybe the FA Cup game against Manchester United. That must’ve felt unreal that day. I wasn’t in the stadium, but I did watch it, and it was the game where I was looking at them and thinking it would’ve been an incredible experience. I’d like to have said the game at Wembley in the FA Cup but obviously it didn't really go how we wanted. But, that’s the one that stands out.
