Relive the 2006/07 season with Wolves ReReviewed

Wolves ReReviewed is heading back into the noughties this week as the 2006/07 season is re-watched, relived and re-reviewed on the official Wolves YouTube channel and Facebook page.

After featuring the 2014/15 Championship campaign – the last season review DVD produced – in the previous episode, commentator Mikey Burrows, The Athletic’s Wolves correspondent Tim Spiers and comedian Tom Parry are continuing to look back at Wolves season review DVDs (and VHSs) from years gone by.

Powered by Energy Angels, the trio will give their unique insight on Mick McCarthy’s first season at the Molineux helm as the former Republic of Ireland coach arrives to find a Wolves squad featuring about a dozen senior players.

With the club no longer receiving the Premier League parachute payments, many of the experienced players who achieved Wolves’ first promotion to the top-flight in almost 20 years in 2003 had to depart, leading McCarthy to start a fresh new ethos of recruiting younger players from lower league sides.

Following an inconsistent opening to the season, which saw the side go as high as third in the table and as low as 14th, the January signings of Michael McIndoe, Michael Kightly, Neill Collins, Stephen Ward, Darren Potter and Andy Keogh set Wolves on an eight game unbeaten streak and a place in the play-offs.

The first part of Wolves ReReviewed episode seven will be shown on the official Wolves YouTube channel and Facebook page at 8pm on Thursday evening, before part two follows at 8pm on Friday.
