Alex Rae to guest on Old Gold Club Live

Scorer of spectacular goals and promotion-winner Alex Rae will complete the Old Gold Club Live line-up when the show goes on the road this summer.

The Scottish midfielder, who was vital in helping Wolves back into the top-flight to put an end to a 19-year absence, will join fellow Wolves heroes ‘King John’ Richards and Dave Edwards as special guests as the popular podcast comes live from Wolverhampton Grand Theatre.

Regular podcast hosts Mikey Burrows and Chris Iwelumo will lead proceedings on stage at the Grand on Friday 7th June 2019, with tickets from just £10 available now by clicking here.

A favourite among the fans and an important member of the team on the pitch, Rae secured the player of the season award in his first of three seasons at Wolves, before helping the team to Premier League promotion in 2003, which came via the memorable play-off final victory over Sheffield United at the Millennium Stadium.

Although he was unused for the final, Rae had a strong season in the Premier League, finishing the campaign as the club’s leading scorer with eight goals – the best goalscoring year of his career. Despite scoring some vital and spectacular top-flight goals, Rae could not prevent the club’s relegation.

Since leaving Wolves in the summer of 2004, the former Scotland under-21 international has managed both Dundee and St Mirren, while working under his Wolves colleague Paul Ince at MK Dons, Notts County and Blackpool.

For those who haven't watched the show or heard the podcast, Old Gold Club is the weekly multi-platform show that features a different former player interviewed about their career at Molineux.

The first series of the podcast featured 30 episodes, with inductees ranging from Kenny Hibbitt and Ally Robertson, to Mick McCarthy and Karl Henry.

The podcast went straight into the Sports and Recreation charts at number five and has gone on to collect a legion of devoted fans, who now have the opportunity to attend the first ever Old Gold Club - Live.
