Exactly 70 years ago today Wolves were crowned champions of England for the first time and the official matchday programme, as Bournemouth visit Molineux, is a celebration of that success.
A 100-page special souvenir edition of the programme has been created, reflecting in large part on the success of Stan Cullis’ team in 1954/54.
As many as 16 pages are dedicated to the anniversary, with Cullis’ 11 regular starters and the route through the season dissected in detail, while there’s a unique insight into that era through newspaper clippings and photographs which feature inside.
An eye-catching cover, created by Ed Robinson, sees Billy Wright proudly holding the First Division trophy on the front, while the names of the 1954 heroes are listed on the back.
The cover forms the second and final part of Wolves’ souvenir series this season, with the 1974 League Cup celebrations for the Fulham programme following a similar theme. It forms the perfect set of two editions for any supporter looking to reflect on the rich history of the football club.
Elsewhere in the Bournemouth programme, there’s an in-depth interview with defender Santiago Bueno, who has found his feet at Molineux, while features also come courtesy of Jose Sa and Matt Doherty.
Gary O’Neil and Maximilian Kilman provide their usual pre-match notes, while there’s updates from Wolves Women, Wolves Academy and Wolves Foundation, as well as the opposite camp, as always.
The matchday programme is available online by clicking here or in and around Molineux ahead of this evening’s game with the Cherries.
