Molineux to host cup final in 2024

Molineux has been selected as the host venue for the Football Association’s 2023/24 FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup final next year.

The thirteenth final of the competition will be played on Sunday 31st March 2024, kick-off 3pm, and broadcast live on the BBC.

Molineux has previously played host to women’s international football, with England lifting the Arnold Clark Trophy against Germany here back in February 2021, and also for a Lionesses friendly fixture against Belgium in June 2022.

Last season’s FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup final saw Arsenal secure a 3-1 win over Chelsea at Crystal Palace’s Selhurst Park in front of a record attendance of 19,010.

Matt Wild, general manager of football operations at Wolves, said: “On the back of successfully hosting both England’s men’s and women’s fixtures across 2022, we’re delighted that the FA are choosing Molineux to host a cup final here in 2024.

“We attracted big crowds for those fixtures and, given the success of the Lionesses and Wolves Women in recent years, we’re hoping the people of Wolverhampton and further afield take the opportunity to watch a women’s cup final.”

Nikki Doucet, chief executive officer of the Barclays Women’s Super League and Barclays Women’s Championship, said: “We’re thrilled to have secured Molineux as the venue for this season’s FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup final.

“It is one of the country’s most iconic stadiums - one steeped in history - and will be a fantastic stage for one of the season’s showpiece moments.

“We’re very much looking forward to working with Wolves over the coming months ahead of what promises to be another exciting final.”

Pete Robb, marketing director at Continental Tyres, added: “The 2023/24 Conti Cup campaign has been fantastic so far, with momentum building throughout the group stages.

“Today’s announcement will give fans and players a standout final to look forward to early next year, and as the women’s game goes from strength to strength, we are proud to be a part of it.”

The competition is currently nearing the conclusion of the group stages, with the quarter finals due to take place on 7th and 8th February, with Chelsea set to enter at this stage due to their UEFA Women’s Champions League commitments.

Emma Hayes’ side will join the five group winners and two best runners-up in the final eight of the tournament. The semi-finals will then be held across 6th and 7th March.

Tickets for the final at Molineux are now on sale, with adult tickets from £15, concessions for £7 and kids for £5. An Early Bird discount of 20% is also live, while groups of over nine people can take advantage of an additional discount.
