Beth Merrick was thrilled to be back on the scoresheet after her short break away from Wolves Women following Sunday’s victory over Hull City.
The Old Gold put four past their opponents at the SEAH Stadium, one being Merrick’s first goal since returning, and she was delighted to contribute, but is also looking for Wolves to be more clinical ahead of their clash with Stoke City.
On getting three vital points
“If we hadn’t have got three points today, last week’s win would have been all for nothing.
“We knew this was a huge game and we knew we had to bounce off what we did last week and take a bit of momentum into today’s game.
“I think we were slightly disappointed with our first half; we should’ve probably been more clinical, but a really good result and were really happy with what we’ve done today.”
On scoring her first goal this season
“It feels really good, I put no pressure on myself coming back in, I said to myself whatever happens will happen.
“I’m really pleased, it’s obviously a special moment but more importantly I’m just happy to contribute to this amazing team.”

On returning to the club after her short break away
“It was a very short break, but it feels amazing as they are all wonderful people, and I had no doubt that I would come back in and feel at home.
“I’m just ever so grateful to come back as the girls are amazing, and they’ve done fantastic things so let’s hope that we carry this on throughout the season.”
On preparing for Stoke City
“We have got to be a little bit more clinical, and I think we all know that we were capable of putting a few more goals away today.
“Also, we can’t switch off as they (Hull) had one big moment where we had a fantastic Bec Thomas save, so we just need to tighten up little bits.
“We’ll take forward some of the amazing work that we did today in terms of combinations.”
