Hughes | 'It was about the performance'

Amber Hughes admitted the team were pleased to finish the league season on a high after beating Liverpool Feds on the final day.

Wolves Women’s seven-game winning run came to an end at Halifax last Wednesday, but Hughes was delighted that the players were able to collect all three points against Feds going into the Birmingham Challenge Cup final on Tuesday.

On coming away with three points

“It was a tricky game and it was about the performance today. After Wednesday night we were all a bit deflated and not happy with the performance and obviously the result.

“Today was about getting back out there and building a bit of momentum for the County Cup final that’s to come. Overall, a really good team performance and nice to walk away with the three points.”

On making more memories

“That’s what Macca always talks about – making memories. We’ve made loads along the way and that’s what’s been important for us.

“Things haven’t quite gone our way but if anything, that might give us the fire in the belly for next season to push on.”

On the Challenge Cup final

“We’re really looking forward to it. After this season, it’s nice to end it with something exciting like that.

“We’ll be really pushing to win and get some silverware for us this season.”
