Palmer calls for Wolves Women reaction

Wolves Women will be aiming to bounce back immediately from their first defeat of the National League Division 1 Midlands season when they entertain top of the table Leicester United on Sunday.

Wednesday evening’s 3-2 loss at The New Saints was an unexpected and unhappy experience, but, says striker Jamila Palmer, it can act as the spur to get straight back on to the winning trail.

“We were way off our best on Wednesday night,” admitted Palmer, who is back at Wolves five years after departing for Stoke City. “It was so disappointing,” she added, “especially after we’d started the season so well.

“We obviously wanted to carry on wining games, but maybe it’s a as well to lose one early in the season and get it out of our system. Every team has a blip at some stage and hopefully that will be ours.

“It’s going to be tough against Leicester, who’ve made a great start to the season. But we were top before Wednesday and we want to get back there. A win on Sunday will take us ahead of them on goal difference – and that’s the aim!”

Wolves Women are back in action this Sunday at Castlecroft, hosting Leicester United at 2pm in the National Women's League. Entrance costs just £2 for Wolves season ticket holders and concessions and £3 adults, including a complimentary programme
