Wolves began the game on the attack with Jade Cross and with Jess Jennings at the heart of a series of good moves, and Dan McNamara’s side were unlucky not to be in front within the first ten minutes.

The home side finally had their opener on the half-hour mark, as captain Anna Price out-jumped her marker to head home at the near post.

Wolves didn’t have to wait too long for their second, just five minutes later, when Anna Morphet curled an unstoppable free-kick past Toni Parkes in the Khalsa goal from 35 yards out.

Moments before the break Wolves cemented their impressive first-half performance, as Jen Anslow scored on the turn inside the Khalsa box to make it 3-0 at half-time.

A scrappy second half seemed to tire Wolves, but the chances kept coming. Price and Morphet were unlucky to not add to their first-half strikes.

Wolves’ defence stood firm for 75 minutes and looked to be heading for a clean sheet until Nat Morris flicked home an in-swinging corner from a tight angle to make it 3-1.

MOMENT OF THE MATCH

Anna Morphet’s free-kick was the stand out moment at a crucial time in the match. Her curling effort from 35 yards left Toni Parkes with no chance.

QUOTES

Manager Dan McNamara was particularly happy with his side’s ruthless streak in the first half. He said: “It was definitely a game of two halves. The first we were patient in our play and took our chances when they came.

“From the first half alone, where we moved the ball well, I think we thoroughly deserved the three points.”
