Goals from Jade Cross, Anna Morphet, Chloe Williams, Billie Haynes and Charlotte Criddle helped the home side maintain their strong league form.

It took just one minute for Wolves to find their first goal of the match as Morphet picked out Jade Cross, who ran into the box and slotted the ball under Long Eaton goalkeeper Merle Schmid.

Cross could have made it two just five minutes later, but the ball was cleared off the line by a Long Eaton defender.

The visitors did well to hold out for the remainder of the first half as Wolves came close with a range of chances.

Both teams came out fighting in the second half, but Long Eaton were punished for it after giving away a penalty in the 51st minute. Morphet slotted the ball home comfortably to get the second of the match.

Wolves were clearly not done with scoring goals. Pressing high and with menace, it took just over 15 minutes for the team to find their third. Jade Cross was able to square the ball to Williams who sent it over the line.

The home side continued to dominate, and their confidence shone through. Substitute Haynes scored two from long range in the space of three minutes to make it 5-0 with just under 20 minutes to go.

Jade Cross got her second of the match after her powerful shot from just inside the area was again too much for the Long Eaton keeper to stop.

A lovely run from Criddle, and great movement going forward, allowed her to slot the ball past Schmid, finding Wolves’ seventh and final goal of the game.

QUOTES

Manager Dan McNamara was delighted with the result. Following the match, he said: “I thought the girls were excellent today. We talked beforehand about finishing the year in style after a really tough two months.

“I thought we dominated the game from the first whistle and were unlucky not to add to the seven great goals we scored.

“I thought the subs where fantastic today and really brought something to the game which is what you want from them. After the effort they’ve given in the last four months they deserved that.

“It sets us up nicely going into the Christmas break and we’ll all enjoy some time with our families now before a big push starting in January.”
