Wolves vs Birmingham City | U23 Match preview

Following an opening game victory over Derby County to put Wolves at the top of the Premier League Cup Group H table, the under-23s will be hoping to maintain their momentum when they invite Birmingham City to Telford on Saturday.

Mark Kennedy’s side got off to the perfect start in the competition they reached the last 16 of last season, beating league rivals the Rams – their 2018/19 victors – 2-1 at Pride Park back in the former Wolves winger’s first game as caretaker boss.

City’s under-23 side, who currently play in the Professional Development League Northern Division, have been flying in their domestic campaign, sitting in fourth place and four points behind leaders Nottingham Forest.

Wolves’ visitors picked up a point from their first match in the Premier League Cup, after a goalless draw with Leeds United, who face Derby in their second group match on Wednesday.
