Game plan key to Wolves' victory, says Kitolano

Sticking to their game plan was key to Wolves under-23’s victory over Manchester City on Saturday, according to John Kitolano.

The left wing-back put in a man of the match performance to help Rob Edwards’ young Wolves side come from behind to beat City 2-1 in Premier League 2 and believes the managers’ words of staying to the team’s philosophy were crucial in taking the win to move up the Division 1 table.

On taking the three points from Manchester City

“It was a good performance from the boys. We kept on working hard for the whole game because we knew we could hurt them and we stuck to the plan.

“It was a great team move that led to the second goal. I took a touch, and then I saw Bruno was free so I passed to him, who passed to Oskar. Then I heard a shout from Shabani behind me, so I jumped over and we scored the goal.”

On words from the manager at half-time

“He said just to stick to the plan, just keep working, just keep pressing them, and then we will get our chances.”

On bouncing back from Leicester defeat

“It was difficult against Leicester because they were a pressing team and would press us for the whole game, and they were so aggressive.

“Before the game, we didn’t know they would be so aggressive, so during the match we needed to step-up and be more aggressive ourselves.”

On aims for the rest of the season

“I hope we can keep the team spirit, work hard and work together, keep in the games and win as many as we can.

“I hope I can score a few goals myself as well, so I’m looking forwards to that.”
