Hull City vs Wolves | U23 Match preview

Wolves under-23s will be aiming to reclaim top spot of the Premier League Cup Group E table when they head to Hull City this evening.

Rob Edwards’ side are currently unbeaten in the cup competition this season, beating Hull 2-1 in the reverse fixture at Telford earlier in the season.

Wolves sit second – two points behind first placed Swansea City but with a game in hand – with five points from their opening three group matches, which also included 1-1 draws with both Swansea and Oxford United away from home.

Hull City are currently bottom of the four-team mini-league, with the top two teams from each of the eight groups moving forward into the knockout stages of the competition.

WHAT THE BOSS THINKS

On Hull

“Hull were really organised when we played them earlier in the season although we got a good result, so more of the same is needed.

“Normally if you can get to double figures in points you can finish in the top two. But the group’s really tight, from first to fourth, so it’s a really important game and we want to qualify in the cup and go as far as possible.”

On responding to Reading defeat

“Hopefully we bounce back in a positive manner. We need to bounce back with a complete performance, a 90-plus minute performance.

“I want to see us get back to the consistent performances that we’ve had all season-long.”
