After suffering only their second defeat of the season on their travels at Southampton last week, Rob Edwards’ under-23s fell from the summit of the Division 2 table, only to be replaced by Friday night’s opponents.
A victory over Sunderland in their last match continued United’s unbeaten start to their PL2 campaign, but with just two points between first and second, a win for either side could prove vital to the outcome of the season.

On Manchester United
I went to watch their under-19s play against Juventus earlier in the week and they’ve got some outstanding young players. But they’re Manchester United, it’s what you expect from a club of their pedigree.
It will be an incredibly tough game, but one we feel that if we acquit ourselves in the right way, like we have been throughout the season so far, we can give a good account of ourselves.
On preparations
I’ve seen their games so I know how they play. But then again it’s about ourselves. We’ll always try and prepare like you would for a first team game, do your homework on the opposition and we’ll give the lads little snippets – the most important bits of detail which we feel they need for the game.
But more often than not it’s about what we do and sticking to our principles of trying to play in the way we do, because we’re not going to change.

Season ticket holders can get free entry into the stadium for the 7pm kick-off on Friday 26th October but must claim their ticket in advance, while parking is available on the night for just £1 per car.
