Late Canaries Double Stuns Wolves

Under-23s share six goals with Norwich

Wolves 3 (Wilson 18, Collins 32, Seedorf 36)

Norwich City 3 (Cantwell 45+2, 90+4, Abrahams 89)

Seemingly home and hosed at 3-1 up going into the last five minutes, Wolves conceded two goals to give visiting Norwich City a share of the spoils in this Premier League Cup tie at the New Bucks Head.

There was a good chance for the Molineux youngsters inside the first minute when Connor Ronan sprinted down the inside-right channel and slipped the ball to Sherwin Seedorf who checked inside a defender before shooting over the bar.

Ben Goodliffe glanced a header wide following a Ronan corner and, in the 13th minute, Ronan threaded the ball through to Seedorf who was denied by City keeper Aston Oxborough.

Wolves took a deserved lead in the 18th minute when Donovan Wilson ran onto Elliot Watt’s pass and blasted the ball into the net from just inside the area.

Aaron Collins screwed a low shot inches wide of the far post before City threatened through Devonte Aransibia who hit a terrific effort from 25-yards that drew an equally good save from Harry Burgoyne.

Hakeem Odoffin ventured forward into the Norwich area and just as he was about to shoot he was robbed of the ball from a well-timed tackle by Timi Odusina.

Wolves doubled their advantage in the 32nd minute through Collins. The striker didn’t make proper contact with Ronan’s cross from the left but the ball bounced down and over the stranded Oxborough.

Four minutes later it was three. Anthony Breslin slipped the ball inside to Seedorf who played a one-two with Wilson before firing home via the inside of the far post.

Just before the break, Norwich replaced Louis McIntosh with Kieran Higgs.

In the second minute of first-half stoppage time Norwich pulled one back when Todd Cantwell netted from close quarters following a low cross from Tristan Abrahams.

Half-Time: Wolves 3 City 1

Bilal Kamal cleared a low cross from Wilson shortly before Dan Armstrong went on in place of Seedorf.

Collins then beat Kamal in a run along the by-line but his pull back went behind Wilson and was hacked clear.

The home defence were having to work hard to keep the Norwich front men at bay and Burgoyne did well to keep out a fierce cross-shot from Aransibia.

Scott Sellars made two further changes with Benny Ashley-Seal replacing Collins on 72 minutes and Oskar Burr Rasmussen for Goodliffe on 76.

Armstrong charged into the City area but was shoulder charged off the ball by Dousina and then Max Arrons was yellow carded for a late challenge on Ronan.

In the 89th minute Abrahams ran through and prodded the ball past Burgoyne to set up a tense four minutes of added time.

In between a booking for Kamal for a foul on Armstrong, and one for Wilson for not releasing the ball after conceding a free-kick, Pierre Fonkeu was inches wide of Burgoyne’s goal with a 20-yard snapshot.

But the drama wasn’t over and with virtually the last kick of the game, Cantwell lashed the ball into the roof of the net leaving the home team to trudge, crestfallen, from the pitch.
