Black Country Derby at Molineux

Premier League 2 action at Molineux

Wolves U23s are in Premier League 2 action for the second time this week as they host West Bromwich Albion at Molineux on Friday night.

Scott Sellars' men were unlucky to be on the wrong end of a seven-goal thriller as they fell to a 4-3 defeat to Swansea at AFC Telford on Monday evening.

That result followed on from a 1-0 victory over Aston Villa in the opening game of the Premier League 2 season.

Discussing Friday's game, Sellars revealed that he is planning to make some alterations ahead of the local derby: "There will be one or two changes for the games and a couple of the lads will be away on international duty next week," he said.

“That then provides other lads with an opportunity to come in and stake their claim.

“We look like we’re going to be a strong team this year.

“If we can cut out some of the individual errors, I think we’ll score goals and I think it’s an exciting group"

Like Wolves, West Bromwich Albion's U23s have won one and lost one of their opening two fixtures; losing to Swansea before defeating Fulham 2-1 in their last outing at Aggborough, Kidderminster.

Speaking to wba.co.uk, the Baggies' U23 boss, James Shan, said: "The game should have an added edge to it with it being a local derby against Wolves.

“I have felt in previous years that they have wanted it more than us.

“If we can take the same work ethic, mentality and desire from Monday night against Fulham into the game at Molineux then I’m sure we will be fine.

“It’s important that there is added spice because they are going to get that in their senior careers so it’s important for their development."
