James Collins’ side won all three of their league fixtures last month and captain Marques was at the heart of a defence which kept two clean sheets and conceded just two goals.
The Portuguese marshalled the defence to stop outs in West Midlands derby victories over West Bromwich Albion and Aston Villa and helped guide the old gold from behind to win against Southampton.
The skipper also contributed at the other end, scoring the second in the 4-0 win over the Baggies, by netting from close range for his first goal of the season.
The 19-year-old was on Bruno Lage’s first-team bench for early season Premier League games against Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur and spent time on loan at Belenenses SAD but is now in good form for Collins’ under-23s.
