2021/22 Wolves under-23 fixtures released

The fixtures for Wolves under-23’s 2021/22 Premier League 2 Division 2 season have been revealed.

Having just missed out on promotion to PL2 Division 1 via the play-offs last time out, James Collins’ side will get their new campaign underway by hosting Middlesbrough at their ‘home’ venue of Kidderminster Harriers’ Aggborough Stadium at 7pm on Monday 16^th August.

The first away match of the season sees the under-23s travel to Reading the following week, while Wolves face new opposition in their third game, as they take on Nottingham Forest at home four days later.

Forest are one of two new sides this season – alongside Birmingham City – who have joined Division 2 from the Professional Development League having gained ‘Category One’ academy status.

Matches against local rivals don’t come for Wolves until the autumn, with Collins’ side firstly taking on Aston Villa on Friday 1^st October, before back-to-back derbies against West Bromwich Albion at Aggborough on Friday 5^th November and Birmingham on the road two weeks later.

The development team are scheduled to finish their season on April, with the final home game coming against Stoke City on Monday 25^th before a visit to Norwich City on the Friday.

With supporters due to be allowed back into the stadiums to watch Academy football again this season, almost all of the under-23s’ matches are set to kick-off at 7pm, having been played behind closed doors in the afternoons during the 2019/20 season.
