James Collins’ side are aiming to bounce back from their first defeat of the Division 2 season, having fallen to Aston Villa last week, as they take on a Palace side which are currently in their first year of Premier League 2 football.
Alongside Leeds United and Burnley, Palace were promoted into the competition in the summer, and are coming into Monday afternoon’s match off the back of their first win of the season having beaten the Clarets 1-0 in their previous outing.

WHAT THE BOSS THINKS
On the season’s first league defeat
“I felt our performance was one of the best we’ve had this season in the league, especially in the first-half, where I thought we were excellent.
“We had numerous chances to take the lead, but we switched off for their goal, which was frustrating, and found ourselves 1-0 down at half-time, which I thought was totally against the run of play.
“We fought back in the second-half and got the equaliser and then had them pinned back. From that point, I thought there was only ever going to be one winner. But they produced a great bit of skill to score a second, and after that we were poor, lost some of our shape and structure, and they could’ve had a few more.”
On bouncing back against Palace
“We’ve got to be a little more clinical in front of goal, whether that’s the final ball or the finish, we’re probably having one or two many touches in and around goal and need to get our shots off quicker.
“But as long as we’re getting our processes right, the performances do come, and that’s shown at the start of the season, with that being our first defeat in the league so far, and if we perform like we did in the first 60 to 70 minutes against Aston Villa again, then we’ll get a result.”
On the challenge posed by the Eagles
“Palace are a bit interesting, because what the seem to do is drop one or two first-team boys who aren’t playing when they have home games at Selhurst Park, and if they’re travelling away, they stick to their ‘pure’ under-23s group.
“It will be interesting to see which players they drop down against us, because they will be a test of our players But it’s great for us to play at Selhurst Park, and they look like a real attacking team, so it should be an exciting game.”
