Tividale vs Wolves | Match preview

Wolves face their second match in the Birmingham County Senior Challenge Cup – the oldest county cup competition still active – when they head to Midland Football League outfit Tividale this evening.

Last time out in the competition, which first began in 1876, Wolves sent a team consisting of under-23 and under-18 stars to earn a penalty shoot-out victory over Stratford Town. Boubacar Hanne netted twice that evening in a 2-2 draw, as Jamie Pardington made two penalty saves to help Wolves progress into the second round.

Wolves have a long-established history in the Birmingham Senior Cup, winning the competition for the first time in seven occasions back in 1891/92 with a 5-2 victory over West Bromwich Albion, as well as reaching the final ten times in the past 130 years.

Tividale, who are yet to earn a place in the tournament’s showpiece finale, reached the second round after a tight 1-0 win over Sutton Coldfield Town back in October. The winner of Tuesday evening’s tie will face a trip to Leamington in the quarter-finals.

Tickets cost £5 for adults and £3 for concessions (over 65’s and students), while entry is free for under-16s.
