Blackburn vs Wolves | U23 Match preview

Wolves under-23s are back out on the road this evening as they travel to Blackburn Rovers in the Premier League 2 Division 1.

Rob Edwards’ side got their first point in the top flight of development football against Everton on Sunday afternoon in a goalless draw with the Toffees, but it could have been all three for the young Wolves team who were denied on several occasions by visiting keeper Nico Hansen.

With an identical record to Wolves, Blackburn have also picked up a single point in their opening two matches of the PL2 season, following a 1-1 draw away at Leicester City on Monday night.

Under-23 captain Ed Francis gave his thoughts after his team’s 0-0 draw against Everton on Sunday.

On draw with the Toffees

“It’s a good point to get off the mark for the season, but we definitely had some good chances and should have taken three points.

“We defended well, we built up well, we played well, and we did everything right, except put the ball in the back of the net.

“That’s the only disappointing thing from the game, everything else was spot on and it was a good performance all around.”

On taking to life in Division 1

“It’s been good so far. Obviously the first game was a disappointing loss to Brighton and then we had the Everton game.

“The way we performed in that game gives us confidence going forward to show that we can do it in this division and at this level.

“I think everyone out there did really well, so confidence will be high going to Blackburn.”
