West Brom vs Wolves | U23 Match preview

Wolves’ postponed match against Fulham before Christmas saw the under-23s drop from top spot of the Division 2 table.

But Rob Edwards’ side are still second in the Premier League 2 league and sit just one point behind leaders Manchester United with a game in hand heading into the second half of the season.

Wolves under-23s begin their 2019 campaign against rivals West Bromwich Albion, who are currently in ninth position in the table, 10 points behind their Black Country neighbours, and will be out for revenge following their 4-1 defeat at the hands of Wolves back in August.

0-0 v Aston Villa (H)

On West Brom

It will be a difficult game, they’ve got some very good individual players – some strong players.

We expect a tough game as they’re recently beat Reading who are right up there in the league as well. They’re a good team and with it being a derby it obviously adds that little bit of spice.

On timing clash with first-team’s FA Cup match with Liverpool

Both ourselves and West Brom have got the FA Cup around this time, so we don’t know what players will be available for either side. It depends on what both first-teams look to do, whether some of the young players will get involved in the match day squads for those games, we’ll just have to see.

But it would be fantastic if a couple of the under-23s are involved with the first-team tonight, but that decision lies firmly with the manager.

11/1 Reading (H)

21/1 Hull City (A) PLC

25/1 Fulham (H)

1/2 Newcastle (A)

8/2 Swansea City (H) PLC
