We Want To Win

Wolves Under-23 striker Niall Ennis believes Wolves can take a lot of positives from their friendly draw against Romania Under-21s, as Scott Sellar's side prepare to face West Bromwich Albion on Friday.

Ennis scored both of the Wolves goals in a 2-2 draw with Romania on Tuesday, with their opponents scoring in the closing stages to deny Sellars side a win.

“We’ll take positives from the game, it’s a friendly but we want to win every game,” said Ennis.

“We weren’t afraid, and we were on the front foot throughout the whole game.

“The result wasn’t what we wanted but performance wise we worked hard and played well.

“It was just one lapse of concentration that stopped us winning, but that’s what development is all about, we’ll take the positives and hope that in the next game we can put it right.”

Ennis has grown up in the Wolverhampton area and therefore, he is fully aware of the Black Country rivalry heading into Friday's game against West Brom.

“We have to be up for the game against West Brom, but we don’t want to start giving away stupid fouls,” Ennis continued.

“You have to feel the pressure and realise it’s an important game, with me being at Wolves for years and being from the area, I understand what it is.

“We want to win and hopefully we will.”

Ennis is slowly phasing himself back into action, having had his fair share of injury problems this season. But the former Shrewsbury loanee was happy to get back on the scoresheet on Tuesday and is keeping positive about his development.

“It’s a slow process, I’m slowly getting there, but I don’t want to rush it.

“I feel like I’m getting close to where I was before, I just need to be patient and let the performances come, but I felt good.

“My goal for this year is to stay injury free, get a run of form and score goals.

“Hopefully in pre-season, I can come back in good shape and push on.

“It’s a marathon, not a sprint. I don’t want to rush it and I’m still young, so I just want to get goals and put in good performances.”

Wolves Under-23s face West Bromwich Albion Under-23s in the PL2 on Friday 30th March at the West Bromwich Albion Training Ground - kick off is 2pm.
