We got the result we wanted

Scott Sellars was pleased with his side's performance after the Under 23s ran out 3-1 winners over West Bromwich Albion.

The young Wolves side went 1-0 down early in the second half but they rallied and fought back through goals from Connor Ronan (pen) and a Bright Enobakhare double to earn the win.

Friday night's victory at Molineux takes the Under 23s' points total to six after three games having beaten, local rivals, Aston Villa & West Bromwich Albion and falling to defeat against Swansea City.

Speaking after the game, Sellars said: “I think in a local derby the first thing you’re looking for is a result.

“We got the result we wanted but I also think we got the performance as well.

“Overall, in spells of the game, we were really good but sometimes I felt our final pass let us down to create the problems we wanted to create.

“I think sometimes in derbies teams can be afraid to lose the game rather than go and win it.

“Once we went 1-0 down the boys almost released themselves more and we stated to pass a bit quicker and get at the back four a bit more.

“The first goal comes after a great run from Will Randall winning a penalty and, from there, we started to cause problems and get behind their back four

“I think the overall attitude and togetherness of the lads to go 1-0 down and then come back and win it showed great quality but great team spirit as well."

It's been a strong start to the Premier League 2 campaign with Wolves sitting in third place in the league table.

And the Under 23s Coach attributes his team's current form to a settled squad and good pre-season preparations.

“Sometimes we have lost players quickly to the first team and that’s affected us by being a young side," explained Sellars.

“But with Bright back and Connor Ronan, Sylvain Deslandes and people like that being back we look a bit stronger, a bit more experienced.

“I also think the work we’ve done over the summer and what we’ve done in pre-season games has created a good spirit amongst themselves.

“A lot of them have been together now for two or three years and been successful."
