Internationals | Sarabia back in the Spain fold

Pablo Sarabia has earned a recall to the Spain squad, making him one of ten Wolves first-team players representing his country this coming weekend.

It’s the first time the Spaniard has been called up as a Wolves player and, as they prepare for Euro 2024 in the summer, Spain take on Columbia at the London Stadium and Brazil at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Wolves once again have a strong contingent in the Portugal squad, with Jose Sa, Nelson Semedo and Toti all included. For their summer preparations, Roberto Martinez’s side meet with Sweden in Guimaraes and Slovenia in Ljubljana.

John O’Shea is the interim head coach of the Republic of Ireland and he’s called up Matt Doherty for friendlies with Belgium on the Saturday and Switzerland the following Tuesday, both at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.

Wales have Euro 2024 play-offs ahead of them this week. Tom King has been named in the squad, as they take on Finland in the semi-final on Thursday in Cardiff. Should they win, they’ll progress to the final against Poland or Estonia on the Tuesday, also in Cardiff.

Away from Europe, Joao Gomes could face England on Saturday night, as part of the Brazil squad. The 23-year-old is in line for his Brazil debut and they’re in friendly action at Wembley, and then against Sarabia’s Spain next week.

Rayan Ait-Nouri signed off with back-to-back goals in a Wolves shirt and is now back with Algeria. They face friendlies with Bolivia on Friday and South Africa on Tuesday, both in Algeria.

Gabon are also in action over the weekend and have called up the Old Gold’s Mario Lemina. He’ll hope to add to his 25 caps in friendlies against Senegal and Congo either side of the weekend.

Finally, Boubacar Traore has linked back up with Mali’s under-21s squad for their friendly against Japan in Osaka on Friday.
