Julen Lopetegui’s squad took another step forward on Wednesday afternoon as a youthful-looking side drew with Manchester City’s under-21s.
The team was constructed primarily of those out of the starting 11 against FC Porto this night before and played out a stalemate in the Portuguese sun, with Sasa Kalajdzic getting more valuable minutes on his hunt for full fitness.
The likes of Dan Bentley, Toti, Joao Gomes and Hee Chan Hwang also started, alongside a host of Old Gold youngsters, who are in Portugal helping the first-team prepare for the Premier League’s kick off.
