Hwang happy to provide 'a very happy day'

Hee Chan Hwang says he could feel the chemistry with Raul Jimenez building last week and was delighted they produced when Saturday came to help Wolves sink Newcastle United.

The South Korean has taken no time to settle into his new surroundings and his two well-taken goals, following impressive work by Raul Jimenez in the build-up, further endeared him to the Molineux faithful. Having started the last three matches in all competitions, and taken his Premier League tally to three, Hwang is revelling in a new challenge and is determined to help Wolves give their supporters more days like Saturday.

On scoring his goals

“I feel extremely delighted to score in one of the biggest leagues and win the game. Also, I feel happy to help the team get what we needed and help secure the win.

“We had no win at home this season, but because of the amazing support from the fans I really wanted to win this game and by achieving it, we gave everyone a very happy day.”

On linking up with Jimenez

“For the past two weeks, we went through great training sessions, so both the team and the coaches were satisfied, which I believe led to the win today.

“Myself and Raul had good conversations to build the chemistry but this is what the manager wants between the attackers and the midfielders. He tells me to move between the sides and the centre with Raul so he can make creative passes. This is all in the tactics.”

On setting into the Premier League

“The Bundesliga is a big league, but I am happy now to receive more playing time here. The Premier League is the biggest league in the world where all footballers dream to play and this is the league where all fans go crazy over. I just feel blessed to play for Wolves and myself and my family are all enjoying our life here.”

On support far and wide

“All the Wolves fans are showing tremendous support which I appreciate. I am aware that many fans in Korea are staying up late to support Wolves and this gives me extra energy. I will always try hard to give back the support.”

On heading away with South Korea

“I just want to cherish this moment with Wolves. I am aware that international games are extremely important and as it is the final qualifier, I will play my best for the best result. We have both home and away games, and we will make sure not to disappoint the fans. I will also prepare well by handling the jet lag and will show a quality performance.”
