Wolves have successfully balanced Europa League and Premier League football throughout this campaign, reaching the round of 16 in Europe as well as maintaining their lofty position in the league table, with one of the smallest squads in both competitions.
On Wolves’ season so far
“It’s not always positive. We’ve faced all the situations, but what we can look back and see is that we always compete. We always prepare ourselves and compete well, but knowing that in football, as in life, there are ups and downs and you have to be ready for it.
“I think we are doing well. A lot of this is because of the way we prepare for each game, the way the players commit themselves.
“It’s been a tight schedule, but it’s been a challenge that we’ve embraced since the beginning and we are ok. We have always been able to compete and that is what is important, always being able to compete with spirit, the best way you can.
“We have good people, very good people, but all the credit goes to the players, because those are the ones who really run and have to compete. It’s a big effort from the players and the way they’ve been able to do it all the way through all the competitions is remarkable.”
On Gibbs-White’s injury and Traore’s shoulder problems
“Morgan’s getting better, but he’s not good. He’s had a season where there have been obstacles in terms of injuries and not being able to settle down, and perform in a continuous way, but we still have time. Hopefully he’s not going to be out for long and he will be able to join the group and keep on helping us.
“We always train in as close a reality situation as we can when we approach a competition. This is how we work – we train like we play. But, of course, we have to be aware [of injuries]. It would be absurd to create circumstances that avoid us to count on players for the competition, but Adama is ok.
“He’s in a situation that he has to handle, it’s very painful – we all know that – but he’s handled it quite well.”
On Coady’s 100th consecutive league appearance
“What I know is that he can do more and he can proceed on doing what he’s doing. He’s a fantastic player. Inside of the pitch is very important for us and he’s doing well.
“But what he has achieved is by his own credit because Coady’s a really fantastic professional footballer.”
