Coady keen to learn from Thursday

Conor Coady says Wolves must use Thursday’s mistakes as a learning curve when turning their attention to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s team progressed to the last 16 of the Europa League and will now face Olympiacos, but Coady was disappointed to lose 3-2 to RCD Espanyol. On the back of four consecutive clean sheets, conceding three hurt the skipper, who is keen to learn from mistakes made on the night.

On reaching the next round

“It’s something we set out to do at the start of the tie. It’s a massive achievement for the club, but I think in terms of the night, we’re disappointed we’ve been beat.

“We conceded three goals, three sloppy goals, we gave them a couple of them as well, so that’s disappointing, but I think if you’re looking at it on a whole, it’s something the club can be proud of.”

On not thinking of the first leg

“It was important that we never really thought about the first leg. We wanted to improve on last week and make sure we did it properly and compete as much as we possibly could to win the game.

“We’re disappointed to get beat and how we’ve conceded the goals. We scored two great goals, they were two good goals, but at the same time we’ve conceded three and that’s not something we want to do. So, we’ll look at it, we’ll improve, but the one thing we can do is look forward to the next round now.”

On leading Wolves in Europe

“It’s huge. I say it all the time, I’m proud every time I put on the shirt, I’m proud every time I walk out with this football club. It’s an incredible club and one I love playing for every single time I do, but in terms of moving forward now, we look at this to try and improve because we’ve got a massive game on Sunday now.”
