Cutrone: 'The pizza is good, but I prefer pasta'

Patrick Cutrone is hoping to repay the backing he has received by the Molineux crowd after being taken to the hearts by his new supporters following a move from boyhood club AC Milan in the summer.

The 21-year-old’s name rings out around the stadium every home match with the infamous ‘pizza pasta’ chant and the support he's been given by those in gold and black left Cutrone rather emotional after netting his second Premier League goal of the season against West Ham United.

On his song

“The pizza is good, but I prefer pasta. I like cooking and although there are good restaurants in Wolverhampton, I can cook good pasta for myself.

“[The song] has been fantastic. It’s been great to hear my name in the stadium, to hear the fans signing the song is great.

“I really would like to thank them from the bottom of my heart, and I hope I will be able to repay them with my performances on the pitch.”

On scoring against West Ham

“I can get quite emotional when I score. It’s a very emotional moment for me, but it’s always exciting to score a goal.

“Also, because I haven’t been playing very often, I wanted to show the coach what I could do. So that goal, in particular, meant a lot to me.”

On the end of Wolves’ unbeaten run

“We’re very pleased with the results and how the team has played. We had this run of 11 unbeaten matches and we’ve also been able to play our game, to show the way we wanted to play, we’ve played well and the results have been good.

“The defeat by Tottenham was a bit unfortunate, but now we are ready to start again and drive again for another push.

“But we’re playing well, we are working hard, we are focusing on improving in training, and then the results will come. We’re just trying to improve match after match.”

On Adama Traore attracting fouls

“I don’t know how he could possibly overcome this situation, but it’s good in a way that he’s become a targeted because it means he’s playing really well and he’s an incredibly skilled player, it’s very difficult to stop him.

“His talent and his skills are helping the team a great deal and it’s one of the reasons why we’re playing well.”

On the challenge posed by Norwich

“We know that Norwich are a good team. We will prepare for this match as best as we can, as we always do. On the pitch we will see how they play and try to do our best.”
