Traore wants to build momentum against Reading

With Reading the visitors to Molineux on Wednesday night for Wolves’ opening Cararbao Cup tie of the 2019/20 season, Adama Traore believes the game can help the side build momentum after their last-gasp point against Crystal Palace.

Despite recent results not going the way the players might have wanted, the speedy 23-year-old knows that working hard and a belief of never giving up and fighting until the end of the 90 minutes will stand Wolves in good stead for their upcoming matches, starting with The Royals tomorrow evening.

On aiming for victory against Reading

“It will be important to build momentum, but whether it’s against Reading or whether it’s against anyone else, we always want to win.

“It was the same against Crystal Palace – we got a point, but for everyone, we wanted to win. In any game, and whatever is the team, we go out to work and win.

“But even if we don’t win games, we always have a positive mind. We have no excuses not to win games, and this is why we fight and work to do it.”

On showing character at Selhurst Park

“It was a tough game and we wanted more, but we stayed in shape, we worked hard, and we kept believing – that is the important thing.

“We had a lot of chances to score, the first-half in particular, but we didn’t finish it, so we have to think about the positive things, but we have to keep working, we have to improve in our game and we showed we can do it.

“When you have chances and the goalie does well or it’s not going in, you get frustrated, but you have to keep going, keep believing and even if we have one man less, two men less, we will keep fighting together.”

On playing two games a week

“It’s a different situation, because now we have Europa League, we have Carabao Cup and Premier League, but every player wants to play in Europe, every player wants to play in the Champions League and every player wants to play in the World Cup.

“This means there is less time for recovery, it means less time with your family and it means less time with everything, but if you want to be at the top it has to be like this.

“This is our job and I love my job, so whatever competition it is, I love being on the pitch. Don’t forget, a football career is a short time, so you have to enjoy it, but keep working and keep going strong.”

On preparing for busy schedule

“Preparation starts straight after the previous game. The coach, the medical staff, the trainers; everyone is doing a great job to cover every detail for our recovery after the game.

“This shows you how professional we are as a team, both inside and outside. I’m very happy for that and, definitely, the result will come.”
