Nuno calls for improvements from his players

Nuno Espirito Santo is calling on his Wolves players to continue to improve as they travel to the Vitality Stadium to take on AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League tomorrow afternoon.

The 3pm fixture will be the second time the two sides have played each other this season after goals from Raul Jimenez and Ivan Cavaleiro secured a comfortable 2-0 victory at Molineux back in December.

Wolves are currently on a run of seven games unbeaten in all competitions, and although his side are currently ‘best of the rest’ in the Premier League’s seventh spot, the head coach is fully focused on improving his side for the end of the campaign.

On Wolves’ season so far

“We’re trying, always trying to become better – that’s our philosophy. I think we’re doing a good job but still have a long way to go, so no rest, always work hard.

“Our ambitions are simple. We don’t think about [the owners’ ambitions], we think about the game-by-game situations, the training sessions. I think that is the best way.

“All the things that will come eventually in the future, will only be possible if you focus on your daily routine, so all those things about the owners’ ambitions that doesn’t exist in my ideas of going day-by-day, game-by-game, nothing changes.

“The engine of the club is the team, so we have to prepare the team well.”

On importance of momentum

“It’s really important to try to achieve the consistency in our performances. We know how hard it is, but we go game-by-game and always try to improve and become a better team.

“We go game-by-game. The table doesn’t mean anything, we just go game-by-game. Play the game, focus on our tasks and play.

“Don’t think about anything else, don’t think about the result, don’t thing about anything; just think about your task, your performance, how we want you to play, how we want you to do things, look at your opponent, realise tomorrow we’re going to have a tough opponent in front of us – that’s how we keep our feet on the ground.”

On Bournemouth and Eddie Howe

“They are a very good team, with a very good manager and very good players. A club that I think does things well, always with new ideas, the way they play, the way they perform, it’s going to be very tough, no doubts about it. It’s going to be a very tough game.

“I know that they are two good teams. What we are looking at now is how we can be competitive enough to take something from them and how we’re going to do it tomorrow.

“I respect Eddie a lot and admire him because of the quality that he has, the quality that he’s shown in his management. I admire and respect him a lot.”
