Last weekend’s 2-0 loss brought an unbeaten run of six games to a halt, and Nuno admitted his players have accepted Watford were the better side.
“It’s over, we analyse and work on it and move to the next game,” he said. “It was not a good game and many factors can be spoken, but we analyse internally, and we got for the next one.
“We have no excuses. There’s no point in making excuses when something is so obvious. I think being honest and realising what you did wrong is the right approach to have. I think saying what you feel is the right way to do it and the right way to be in this sport, knowing when someone is better than you, you accept it and move forward.
“I expect a good reaction every time. After a bad result and a bad performance, we have to bounce back. We have to perform better than we did last week, and I expect that from my boys.
“The mental approach is to improve, realise what we did wrong and improve on the training pitch, and that’s the mentality we have as a group. I think it’s the right mentality to have.”
Wolves head to the Amex on Saturday to face Chris Hughton’s Brighton and Hove Albion, who are unbeaten in their last two Premier League fixtures. And Nuno knows how difficult a task is ahead of his players.
“Chris is a fantastic coach and a gentleman,” Nuno said. “I really enjoyed the time I spent with him and we expect a tough game. Brighton are doing very well and at home they are very strong and get good results and good performances, so we expect a very tough game tomorrow.
“The core of the team, the base of the team, is the same as they had in the Championship and they have been working together for a long time, so the routines are there. It’s a very well organised team with good players.”
After sticking with the same starting 11 for all nine Premier League matches, the head coach is keeping his cards close to his chest as to whether he will make changes on Saturday following Wolves’ second loss of the season, but Nuno praised the impact all the players in his senior squad have made.
He added: “We have to make a decision, but every player worked very well this week, so we expect a good squad and a strong 11.
“We speak on the pitch every day. The best thing to do when you have to make a statement is to do it in a training session and do it like the boys are doing when they come from the bench.
“Many of the games this season have been decided by players coming from the bench. That energy is the best thing you can have and we have it, so I’m really pleased.”
