Crystal Palace v Wolves | 5 things to know

After a brilliant September in the Premier League for Wolves, Nuno will now look for a similarly positive start to October at Crystal Palace on Saturday – here’s what to look out for at Selhurst Park.

1. No injury worries - does Cavaleiro start?

Nuno looks set to pick from a fully-fit squad once again in the capital, but has Ivan Cavaleiro earnt a starting spot for his heroics off the bench last weekend? The winger, along with Adama Traore who made the first goal against Southampton, could push Diogo Jota and Helder Costa for a starting spot at Selhurst Park.

Max Meyer made his first Crystal Palace start in defeat to AFC Bournemouth on Monday, will Roy Hodgson revert back to the services of Cheikh Kouyate from the off? Christian Benteke has been suffering with a knee injury, but a return to fitness could jeopordise the place of Jordan Ayew in Hodgson’s side.

Wolves are the only Premier League side not to make a change to their starting line-up this season

2. Palace’s home struggles

Crystal Palace are yet to score on home soil in the Premier League and have taken one point from nine available, which came against Newcastle United last month. The Premier League campaign began at Selhurst Park with 2-0 away defeats, as Liverpool and Southampton departed with maximum points. Roy Hodgson’s men steadied the ship somewhat a fortnight ago however, as a clean sheet at home to Newcastle wielded their first point on their own patch. Away from home is where Palace have enjoyed success, winning at Fulham and Huddersfield, but last time out a late penalty condemned them to a 2-1 defeat at AFC Bournemouth.

3. Wolves solid on the road

After defeat in their opening away game at Leicester, Wolves have tightened up and have caused problems to the opposition since. A 1-0 win at West Ham courtesy of Adama Traore’s late strike sealed a first victory at this level since 2012 and gave Nuno a base to build on. His players continued the positivity at Old Trafford two weeks ago as Joao Moutinho earned Wolves a point. Wolves collected ten points during the month of September, with five different scorers finding the back of the net, and will want to begin October in a similar manner with a second away victory of the season.

4. Doherty’s rise in FPL stock

Picking your Fantasy Premier League team for the weekend? Matt Doherty may take your fancy after a run of consistent performances and two assists in three matches. The Irishman costs just £4.6 and has been drafted in by more than 125,000 FPL users since his 12-point haul against Southampton last weekend. The heatmap below shows the attacking threat Doherty poses for Wolves.
