Nuno: It Was So Special

Nuno Espirito Santo was left close to speechless by the reception he and his team got during Monday’s open top bus parade around Wolverhampton.

It was the perfect opportunity for the team and their supporters to celebrate together after an unbelievable, title-winning season.

The bus proceeded through the city and into West Park, with thousands upon thousands of supporters turning out to show their appreciation.

Nuno sat down after the event and was taken back by volume of people who turned out to celebrate as a collective.

“I’m emotional. It was really, really special,” he said. “When we left the Art Gallery for the bus and I saw a sea of people it was fantastic.

“However, when we arrived to the park and saw 30,000 people it was incredible.

“We’ve been celebrating throughout the weeks, four weeks ago we were promoted. The next day we confirmed it by winning the game.

“Then they gave us the trophy and we celebrated at home, yet on Monday they came and supported us again, it was unbelievable.”

The support was typical of a season where Wolves have sold out 12 Molineux home games and taken maximum support to 16 away from home.

Nuno insists that commitment and backing has been instrumental to this season’s success and he’ll be forever grateful.

“It’s not only me, it’s the way they support the players, they sing their songs and are there. You can see they enjoyed this season.

“We have responsibility so we’re looking forward to resting and then we start planning the way we should do.

“But we can’t forget what happened on Monday, for each member of the squad it meant a lot, a big thank you to our fans,” he added.
