We Keep On Fighting

Nuno Espirito Santo praised his side’s character as Wolves drew 2-2 at Millwall on Boxing Day in the Sky Bet Championship.

It was the hosts that took the lead in the 13th minute as Lee Gregory was played in by Jed Wallace before finishing beyond John Ruddy.

Wolves had a number of chances before Diogo Jota was found by Helder Costa to score his tenth goal of the season to send Wolves in level at the break.

Romain Saiss then produced a superb strike from 25 yards to put Nuno’s side into the lead 11 minutes after the interval.

Wolves were forced to settle for a point at The Den as Jake Cooper headed home a corner in the 72nd minute to see the two sides share the spoils on the day.

Nuno admitted that it was a tough test for his players but felt that they handled the physicality of the opposition well.

"It was a tough game, an entertaining game, a well disputed game -  a lot of fighting, a lot of dispute for the ball,” he said.

“It’s a tough stadium to come to, it’s one of the toughest stadiums in the competition and I think we were able to control the intensity of the game.

“We keep on fighting and keep on going.”

“I think we played better and we managed the ball better but they fought, they created chances from set-pieces and we showed that we are ready for every type of game and every type of situation.”

We reacted well from going one goal behind. In the second half, we created good chances with some good football and we went in front.

“And then it’s a corner and we have to look at that and improve on that particular point.”

Nuno praised the 1,726-strong travelling support and called for them to continue that support as Wolves look towards Saturday’s trip to Bristol City (5:30pm).

“Again, I would like to thank the fans for coming - it’s fantastic support and we need them again on Saturday.

“We had chances, we played good - it’s a draw and we thank the fans for coming and supporting us all of the way and making us feel like we were at home.”
