I Am Enjoying The Way We Play

Romain Saiss revealed that he is enjoying Wolves’ style of football under Nuno Espirito Santo and hopes it can continue through the 2017/18 season.

Wolves’ 2-0 win over Fulham in their most recent league outing meant Nuno’s men went into the international break at the top of the Sky Bet Championship table.

Speaking after the game, Saiss said: “I think it was a very good game. We controlled it very well. We know Fulham are a good team with the ball but we stayed in shape and kept it going.”

“It’s hard to stay at the top because every team wants to beat us. We just need to keep going and stay strong at home, I think that’s important if you want to go into the Premier League.

“I’m very happy today with the performance of the team so we need to keep going.

“I am enjoying the way the coach wants the team to play. This is my football.

“I like to play football, I don’t like the ball passed in the air. I’m really enjoying it this season and I hope we continue like this.”

The midfielder scored his second goal of the season to give Wolves an early first half lead over the Cottagers and Saiss hopes that he can add to his tally as the season progresses.

“I am very happy because I don’t score a lot of goals in my career,” he explained.

“This season I have two now so I hope I can add a few more now but the most important thing is the team.

“We have a fantastic team when we play like this. We know about the character of the team so we need to stay strong together, every player, the staff and if we continue like this then I am confident for the rest of the season.

With no Wolves fixture this weekend, some players leave the group to join their respective national squads and some will stay to train at Compton Park.

And Saiss believes a break from the league campaign will be beneficial for the squad as the Christmas period approaches.

“You need to have a break because the league is so long,” explained the Moroccan international before adding: “Personally I don’t have a break because I go into the national team and we have an important game.

“It’s another style - Africa is different. It’s good as well for me to go into the national team because I can go back to my country and see my brother.

“The break is good for the rest of the team but we have to continue in this way when we return.
